OPEN CALL FOR ART

South River Art Studios invites artists to submit works to “Snakes, scales, & things that slither”.

This exhibition will have an opening reception on March 14, 2025 and be on display until March 27th, 2025.

“Snakes, scales, & things that slither” will welcome a variety of artists working around subjects related to snakes, lizards, alligators, fish, worms, or anything with scales and related things like the shedding of skin/scales, and fear and illusion.

The curators encourage all types of artists and mediums to be included in this exhibit to show a diverse collection of scaly and slithering things.

OVERVIEW
The “Snakes, scales, & things that slither” exhibition will be held in Go Go Gallery at South River Art Studios.

Eligibility: Artists of all ages are welcome to submit. Artwork should be related to snakes, lizards, alligators, fish, worms, or anything with scales and related things like the shedding of skin/scales (literal or metaphorical), and the idea of fear or illusion, primal instincts, mythological content, etc.

All types of art will be considered including conceptual, installation, and performance work.

Call for Art announcement: 1/26/25
Submission Deadline: 2/28/25
Selections announced: 3/3/25

Artwork Drop Off: 3/8/25 & 3/9/25
Exhibition dates: 3/14/25 - 3/27/25
Artist Talk & Performance: 3/22/25 2 - 4:30pm

Opening: Friday, March 14th 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Closing: Thursday, March 27th 6:30pm - 9:30pm

SUBMISSION PROCEDURES

Show Description:
Hi I’m Michael. I used to be a physicist. Nowadays I am a physicist that does art stuff. This is a show full of stuff made out of ideas from my physics work. This stuff also moves. I’m gonna talk about the stuff, why I made it, the friends who helped me make it, and why it is the way that it is.

(how’s that thing move like that?)

Sometimes when I was making this stuff, I thought about other stuff that really has nothing to do with any of this. I’ll tell you about that too.

I promise you won’t have to do any math. But you will leave thinking “I think I understand math better”. Or maybe you won’t. But at least you’ll understand me better, and I think that’s nice.
